Latest news from Connect Assynt

In response to the Coronavirus pandemic, Connect Assynt is currently running one short trip per week for its residents. Due to social distancing, the bus will only be able to carry a maximum of 5 passengers.   Our minibus is also available for the community as a food bank collection resource. At present all the drivers are voluntary and we are most grateful for their support.

If you want to support the work that Connect Assynt do, please Contact Us.  We are always in need of volunteer drivers  - all you need to have is D1 on your licence.

Connect Assynt welcomes school visit

We were delighted at the start of March 2020 to welcome a group of infants from the Lochinver Primary, led by teacher Jackie Macaskill.  A total of 10 children from P2 to 4 were shown around the bus and then  asked a series of questions ranging from how many passengers we usually take and how far we go to a more technical questions of whether the bus was rear or front wheel drive!  At the end of the session, Jane our office co-ordinator drove them all back to school. Educational visits like these are so important for Connect Assynt to explain how valuable community transport is to places like Assynt and for the younger generation to understand the need to support others who have no transport or those affected by loneliness.
